Army Chief's Age Row

By trying to defend his "honour and integrity" the present Army chief created unnecessary, unsavoury, long-drawn controversy, which brought the institution of the army and the government into disrepute. Wasted so much time of the government and in particular of the Defence ministry, which is headed by none other than a politician whose honour and integrity is never in doubt. It is understandable that the Army chief was seeking to extend his term by another year and not purely seeking his "honour and integrity".

Media Matters

Media standards have as a whole sunk so low; its all about sensationalism, exaggeration. Trivial matters have been overblown to fill pages and to fill the 24 hr newstime. The 24 hr news is not a blessing therefore, rather a curse for the common man.

Pubgate to Porngate

The very Sangh Parivar elements acting as moral police attacked the youngsters enjoying in a pub in Mangalore are now caught in the porngate being enacted in the sacred arena of Indian Democracy - the Assembly. The three page roll out in The Bangalore Times of India, however has a lesson for the Church. Those who act self-righteously (moral) will be dealt severely by the secular media. Sure the Church cannot allow permissiveness; at the same time it should respect the moral conscience of persons and leave it at that and not act as moral police.
